Questions about Ontario Incorporation

Should I choose a named or a numbered company?

A named company uses a name you pick, such as “Maple Harbour Ventures Inc.”, and needs a NUANS report. A numbered company uses the number Ontario assigns, such as “1000123 Ontario Inc.”, needs no name search and can still operate under a business name later.

Do I need a NUANS report?

Yes, if you want a named corporation. Ontario requires an Ontario-biased NUANS report to show your proposed name has been searched against existing names and trademarks. It is included in this package.

What address can I use?

Your registered office must be an address in Ontario. It is where official mail is sent, so use one you check regularly.

What happens after incorporation?

You file an Initial Return within 60 days, set up your minute book, and keep your company key safe for future filings. We send you a checklist with your documents.
