Common questions

What is a NUANS report?

NUANS is the Government of Canada’s name search system. A NUANS report lists existing names and trademarks similar to yours, so the registry can confirm your name is not confusing with another business.

How long is a report valid?

A NUANS report is valid for 90 days. Use it to incorporate within that time, or you will need a new report.

Do I need a NUANS report?

Yes, if you want a named corporation. Ontario requires an Ontario-biased NUANS report to show your proposed name has been searched against existing names and trademarks. It is included in this package.

What is a company key?

A unique code issued by the Ontario Business Registry. You need it to access your business profile and to file changes and annual returns online.

Are you a government office?

No. Central Registries Canada Corporate Services Inc. is a private company that prepares and submits filings for you. Government fees are included in your order where they apply.
